  • the blackest crow: traditional Appalachian song, played here on the banjo, autoharp, Dobrato guitar, and bass, along with vocals. The last verse is not from any form of the song I have heard, but it fits.
  • shady groove: variations on a traditional Appalachian song, played on banjo, mandola, fiddle, bass, and percussion, with a short vocal
  • bourée in E minor: variations on a composition by JS Bach, written between 1708 and 1717, which borrows heavily from Jethro Tull’s interpretation. Played on harpsichord, bass, guitar, flute, cello, and finger cymbals. For some reason I decided to play this in D minor, actually–the saddest of all keys.
  • willy o’ winsbury: traditional English/Scottish storytelling ballad from at least 1775 [Child Ballad 100] played on guitar, bass, cello, tin whistle, bodhran, tambourine, and finger cymbals, along with vocals
