Oia

Our first full morning began with breakfast at a local bakery (delicious) and a walk through Nikolaou Nomikos, a pedestrian street in old Oia which caters primarily to tourists. Oia is a village on the northern rim of the Santorini caldera. Like many Santorini towns, it is both quaint and commercialized. It caters to well heeled tourists as evidenced by the over abundance of jewelry shops, art galleries, and upscale taverns and cafés. Still, it’s a charming place to visit due to the narrow, hilly cobblestone alleys, the colorful shops and the mix of architectural styles. There are many nooks and crannies to explore, particularly on a beautiful morning.

Here are a few pictures from the walk, in no particular order.
